Archer-Daniels-Midland Company contracted O6 ENV to provide project management, field resources, equipment, transportation, and disposal/beneficial reuse for the cleaning of Soybean Oil tanks.
O6 ENV completed a preliminary entry into all 10 tanks to verify soybean oil levels and pull samples of all the stratified layers. The clean oil, from the stratified layers in each tank, was pumped off the top and staged in frac tanks before being transported off site for beneficial reuse. The hardened tank bottoms/gums were mechanically excavated and loaded into hardtop roll-off boxes for beneficial reuse and/or disposal. Equipment was placed inside each tank for a final excavation followed by pressure washing to prepare for the final decommissioning effort.
O6 ENV removed over 4.9 million pounds of soybean oil. This required a flexible approach when handling tank bottoms and optimizing ADM approved reuse and disposal facilities. ADM then inspected all tanks and cleared them to be demolished and recycled. O6 ENV performed all tasks safely and without incident and complete the project on time.
