SIPC contracted O6 ENV to provide project management, field resources, labor, and equipment to remove impacted soil removal at their Power Plant in Marion, IL.
O6 ENV utilized heavy equipment to remove over 15,000 cubic yards of contaminated material from an existing coal ash pond. This material was staged onsite for dewatering and T&D at a later date.
O6 ENV transported over 15,000 cubic yards of clay material from an onsite borrow source to bring the pond back to the design grades. The pond was compacted in lifts to 95%.
O6 ENV subcontracted GSI to install the 60mil HDPE geomembrane. 6 pipe penetrations were needed to keep drainage on their site functional. An anchor trench was dug and backfilled around the perimeter to keep the liner in place. No material was placed on the liner since they will be using this pond for rainwater events.
