Project Name

Remedial Earthwork Former Schlumberger

Client

Jacobs/CH2M Hill

Location

Youngstown, OH

Jacobs/CH2M Hill contracted O6 ENV on behalf of Schlumberger Technology Corporation to provide project management, field resources, equipment, transportation, and disposal of impacted soils and construction of a subgrade biogeochemical reactor at the former Schlumberger facility in Youngstown, Ohio.

O6 ENV completed sub-surface structure removals of the former plant including building foundations, piping, and parking lots. The structures were demolished by excavator, the foundations were removed, and the debris was sized and segregated. Concrete and metal debris was recycled, and general debris was disposed of at an approved C&D landfill.

Prior to remedial activities, O6 ENV and its subcontractors installed an engineered earth retention system that consisted of drilled soldier pilings. This allowed excavations depths of 15 feet adjacent to existing buildings.

5,000 tons of impacted soil was excavated and loaded into end-dump trailers and transported for disposal at a local Sub-Title D landfill. The excavations were backfilled using soil and gravel from a pre-approved off-site site borrow source. The borrow material was transported by end-dump truck and placed with an excavator and compacted to the levels recommended in the scope of work.

A subsequent site restoration project was performed by O6 ENV and its subcontractors to reconstruct the parking lots and storm sewers within the project boundary.
